The factory started functioning in July, 1987, by the name of the Ksani Glass Container Factory. At that time it was one of the largest and the most modern factories in its field in the former Soviet Union, which had 3 furnaces and 8 production lines. The factory applied Italian technologies. After the collapse of the Soviet Union and during the unstable situation in Georgia (1991-1995) the infrastructure of the factory experienced significant damage. In 1995 it was named the Joint-Stock Company Mina (with 100% shareholding of the state). In 1997 the control packet of shares was purchased by the Turkish Industrial Holding Sisecam, being one of the first leading six glass production companies in the world, the annual sale capacity of which is more than 2 billion dollars, amalgamating more than 60 subsidiaries and number of employees exceeding 17 thousands.
After privatization the first furnace and two industrial lines were reconstructed and reequipped with first stage investments and in July, 1998, the company renewed production, with the annual capacity of 18 thousand tons.
In order to meet the stable growth of the market requirement since 2000, an investment decision was made and on the 7th of November, 2002, the second (new) furnace with two industrial lines was put in motion, with the 30 thousand tons of annual capacity. Therefore the total factory capacity increased up to 48 tons (the average amount of finished goods).
At various periods of its existence the company's shareholders were the International Financial Corporation and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Since 2003 99,98% of the company shares is owned by the company groups Anadolu Cam Sanayii A.Ş., established in 2000, which amalgamated glass-production companies of the Sisecam group. Nowadays the mentioned group additionally to the JSC Mina amalgamates 3 factories in Turkey and the Ruscam Company with 5 factories in the Russian Federation. The whole annual capacity of all the companies of the Anadolu Group makes approximately 1.8 million tons of glass per year and employs up to 5 thousand people. Capacity of annual sales exceeds 600 million US dollars per year.
In 2008 the first furnace stopped working as a result of expiration of the exploitation period and nowadays in the factory the above mentioned second furnace functions in the factory.
In 1997-2010 the capacity of investments implemented by the JSC Mina made 25 million US dollars.
The industrial capacity of the company is planned to increse twice in the nearest future.
